About the Studio

Susan Kay Johnson-Hannon

I live and work in my studio with my husband Michael. We create in many different mediums within sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking and music.

I have lived in my studio's for many years, because it is so expensive to pay for 2 spaces. Although there are some disadvantages to living in the same space, there are many advantages. You can work when ever you get the urge and that is a wonderful thing for me,because I work allot at night. After the days duties are done and most people have gone home, it is so peaceful to work.

I create both my own work and commissions within my studio. The piece in the picture above is a sculpture for the movie "Tank Girl".It is a large torso 18 feet long by 8 feet wide and 8 feet high. The torso is carved from big blocks of Styrofoam and the plastered for the surface.
